Got about 10-11" here on Thursday. Went out for the paper this morning, the driveway was all clear, it felt kind of warmer. I was thinking I should take the bike out. Unfortunately, there was still a lot of snow & ice on the streets in the neighborhood. Took the Jeep. Good thing. It was very windy (couldn't tell that when I got the paper because my house was blocking the wind) and the snow was very dry & light, so it was blowing and drifting all over the roads. Went through some parts where I had no clue where the road was. By mid day, there were a number of cars, vans & pickups in the ditches.
The other bad thing about taking your bike out in the winter. The streets are dry and life is good, then you decide to pull in somewhere and find the parking lot is all ice. DOH!
You guys up north go ahead and laugh... we actually got a massive 1/4" of here in north Georgia last night, and they closed all the schools yesterday just on the forecast, and again today because of the snow!
Sounds like Virginia Beach. My first year there, 1981, they pretty much closed *everything* down - told people to stay in their houses and not go out unless it was an emergency - closed the military bases and sent everyone home who wasn't required to be there - because they were *forecasting* up to 1/4 inch of snow.
my wife said the video would have been funnier if I spun out since I was only driving with one hand
That's what I was waitin for! I figured for sure that was why you posted the vid. We used to play on the ice covered roads in Hampton when I was a kid. Pretty cool when yer the only ones on the road, doin doughnuts down the middle of Mercury Blvd...
22 here this morning...I rode the bike to work..One of the guys I work with also rode...I sure love those heated grips...The deep south is in a deep freeze.
The sun is shining here and it's a beautiful afternoon.
Of course, I'm sitting inside at a console looking at a bunch of surveillance cameras because it's in the teens still and there's still a lot of the white stuff on the ground and streets, and has been since before Christmas!!! And this is OKLAHOMA!!!!
