It's what I used in the scouts, and what I use today... Granted, that was only a few years ago...

Here's a good outlet for gear based in the Twin Cities. Good prices and service. Good web site with easy navigation and images available. They have many brands available at competitive prices. If you find a model you like elsewhere, it may save you a few bucks to check here.

lighting fires is easy, putting them out before they get big enough for the fire dept to see em two counties over is another issue all together

Try Craig's list and look for a while. Try this website to get honest opinions, then scan Craigslist. http://www.backpackgeartest.org/reviews/Shelters/Tents/

There are alot of guys who buy good stuff and then don't use it. Pick it up for about 25-50% of new, and most haven't been used much, but maybe a year or two old. Got my tent, bag, and backpack there.

I got a Primus stove - starts easy, gets very hot and cooks quickly.

Good luck

Does anyone have a Kermit chair? Does it hold up and does it sit you up at a decent height off the ground?

Sorry to hijack the thread but it's at least related, right?
