Used Sportsters are a dime a dozen, especially right now in mid-winter, and the trade-in value of that Shadow is going to be next to nil, but I do wish you good luck.
You buy a girl friend a scoot and she has the unmittigated gall to say she'd be embarrassed to ride it amidst 'real' bikes? I think you need to buy her a ticket home to mamma, before she really tries to impress you...
Just bought the girlfriend a '09 honda shadow. shes dissapointed its not a harley, which i can understand. I told her a harley isnt an option right now, maybe later. she said she'll be embarrassed riding it around anyone with a "real" bike. what do you guys think? attachted is a recent pic.
Hopefully, she was messin' with ya when she said she'd be embarassed. Hell, you gave up your quad so she can ride with you.
You didn't mention if she any motorcycle riding experience. If this is this her first bike, then at least it isn't a $16K plus HD that she'll be laying down.
I'm just up the road from you, so tell your girl that if I see you and her out for a ride I promise not to laugh and point my finger at her.
I've got long hair, large enuff to have been told I have 'man *****', and I'll ride the shadow with ya any time ya want. (BUT, you'll have to keep her on the side cuz I don't do guys!)
Not sure why that myth continues on trade in value. I'll give you my personal example. I purchased an 07 Kawasaki 900 Custom for 7K put 16K miles on it and sold it this month for 6K...
Is that bad?

My wife rode on the back my bike for years. Then one day she says I am tired of being your backrest I want my own bike. I was concerned for her safety and was reluctant to get her her own bike.
I told her if she took a motorcycle riding course we would get her a starter bike.
She took the course and we found her a 2003 750 Honda Shadow. It was a great bike to learn on she rode it for 2 years laid it down once and was happy until last summer when she rode her freinds Deluxe .So guess what we sold her Shadow and found her a used 2007 Deluxe with only 3000 miles and she can't wait for some warmer weather to put some real miles on it.
So tell your girl freind the Honda is a great starter bike and when she gets some miles under belt and you guys can afford it you may get her a HD. She sounds like she maybe high maintenance girl good luck....
