Okay, I have a Harley Superglide in vivid black that I thought would look great if equipped with Harley's new distressed brown leather saddlebags, seat, pillion and backrest (over $1,000 investment). It does indeed look good, but not great because while the back of the bike is brown distrseed leather, the front is all black and chrome and the overall look is imbalanced.
I need to have a similar distressed eather tank bib and windshield or tool bag to really get the look I imagined. But these products don't exist, and even finding a piece of leather to make these items is proving impossible! If anyone knows of these products that someone sells (someone should and advertise on the internet, they'd make a killing), or even has a piece of leather that can come close to matching the distressed brown leather look that Harley sells, please e-mail me. The fact that this is proving an impossible task (customizing my Harley with this leather) is really starting to bug me and has me even starting to regret my purchase.
Buy new leather and distress it. Mistreat it until you get the look you want.
You might want to experiment on something cheap. Maybe a few cycles in the washer/dryer along with some jeans and softballs.
I believe the furniture term for the distressed Harley leather is saddle leather.. go to a furniture re-upholstery store and see what they have..Ford makes the King Ranch seats out of saddle leather.. The furniture store may sew up what you are looking for..
