I believe Harley moved the O2 sensor from the head pipe to near the mufflers on 2010 bikes and that may have been part of the reason for the part # change.

I have a 2010 Roak King...the 02 sensors and the Cat Converter are in the headpipe. I was thinking about putting new pipes on, prob the vance and hines. I want a better sound and performance from my bike

I agree. I have Python Staggered duals and they are loud. I ride long distances when I can and, man, the noise gets to me. Even with ear plus. A nice low rumble sounds good. If ya really ride, it won't take long to get to the 5,000 miles anyway.

Default picture of cat

Here is a shot of the inside of one of the mufflers from my 2010 heritage softail classic, that is the cat just inside the inlet of the muffler, guess thats why they put the heat sheilds on the mufflers.
The tourers may be different though.

And I will say that with them being in there like that I doubt they will ever get much louder, hell its a wonder the exhaust can even get through there!

You are right, that is a cat. Is it in both mufflers? 06-09, the cat was just in the muffler to the front cylinder.

How to fix? Take a 5/8 in, 18 in long drill and drill three holes through it. Much better flow, nice rumble and you save $300-500 by not buying slipons. Procedure works very well on softails and ststrs. The only way for an inspector to check for the cat, would be to take the muffler off.

fyi...and it still says catylist on the back side of the muffler.

On a cage exhaust with cats, they have a smog pump that works with them. I always heard that you could remove the cats with no problems, but if you removed just the smog pump and left the cats on they would clog very quickly.

Just wondering if the bike cats are completely different than whats on a car, or if there is something on the 2010s like a smog pump.

I guess they have had them on jap bikes for a while now. Anybody know what the difference is between auto and bike cats??

In the 2010's, all the cats are in the head pipes!

Did you not look at that picture I posted?
That is a muffler off of my 2010 heritage softail classic and the cat is just inside the inlet on the muffler, not in the headpipe at all.
