I have a 2010 flstc Heritage softail classic.
Its my understanding that it has catylatic coverters in the exhaust, are they in the mufflers or the headpipes?
Ive heard it both ways.
I was looking at the screamin eagle slipons and the parts guy at the dealership was trying to steer me into getting rush slipons.
I dont want it too loud, just a little deeper tone and a little rumble.
Now my question is, the screamin eagles for 2010 are a different part number, is this because they have the cats in them? they are also more expensive.
Also, if I was to buy rush slipons to be sure they wouldnt have cats in them, right?
If I get a set of screamin eagles that are the part number for an 09 flstc, will they work?
Would it cause any problems?
Thanks for any help, this is my third harley but the first with cat. converters.
If you're not looking for LOUD, I suggest waiting till you have at least 5000 miles on your bike. Even the stock pipes deepen and rumble nicely once they're broken in. I wear a 1/2 and a full face helmet. Anyone who says they can't hear the stock exhaust at any speed has other issues. People are so quick to swap out stock parts to be different, they have actually just become one of the crowd. No matter what Harley does stock, has to be changed. It costs nothing to wait a bit... then decide.
Thanx, and to the guy that said to wait a little bit and the stock pipes would deepen.
Thats great and all and im not looking for all that much loudness, but more of a deeper tone.
I had screamin eagles on my 1200 custom sportster and loved the sound, not to loud but a nice deep tone.
also, I have actually purchased a set of 09 model screamin eagles and am awaiting delivery, the price was good enough I couldnt pass them up, like 1/4 the price of new.
That is interesting that the cats would be in the headpipes, so I cant really understand why Harley lists the mufflers for the 10's at 80 bucks more then the 09's?
Well the screamin eagles I purchased off E Bay came today and I just finished installing them.
They sound good and after I finsh eating lunch im going riding! YAAAAA! Its a balmy 60 degrees here in eastern NC today, been in the 30's latley.
The cats are actually in the mufflers themselfs.
When I took them off if you look in the inlet side they are right there!
Anyway, looking forward to trying it out in a few minutes.

let us know how it sounds !!
Did you look in the inlet side of your mufflers?
Yes they are the cats. you cant mistake it at all, looks like a bunch of close radiator fins in a circular pattern real close together and on a smaller scale then a radiator of course. I use the term radiator fins for lack of a better comparrison at this time.
I will see if I can get a picture of them and post latter.
It sounds great, exactly the sound I was looking for, not too loud but a good deep rumble.
Ok, I found the word I was looking for to describe it, looks like a honey comb, well sort of.
