I had a similar experience this afternoon. While warming up the engine in the driveway a car full of teenagers cruise by the house and one of them yells out over a megaphone.... "NICE BIKE".
Made my day...

You weren't riding with your chaps and no pants again were you? Seriously that's pretty cool though. It happened to me once when I was riding through Niagara Falls. I was riding in slow moving traffic and this foriegn dude starts scrambling to get his camera out and snaps a picture and gave me a thumbs up. It was pretty funny

about the closest i have come to that kind of recognition was when i first brought my bike home. the step kids dad came over to pick them up for his weekend and the kids had to take thier dad out and show him "ron's cool harley" step dad stood there for about 10 min.s telling me how nice the bike is

Good to hear! I think my all time favorite was just this last weekend; there were over 100 bikes in the parking lot, & this mom was walking her young ( maybe 4 or 5 yr old) boy thru,, looking at all the bikes... he had his hands up near his head, & was very anxious, Mom didn't know why , so asked the boy, & he said "When do we cover our ears???" We all smiled & said if he wanted to watch, stick around for about 15 more minutes. Someone bought the kid ( & Mom) a pop, & when we left, there was this little kid, tears Streaming down his face, hands Firmly over his ears... & THE biggest smile I have Ever seen....he was fairly hopping up & down he was so excited! & I think every one that saw him, waved, & his little head was just Bobbing up & down in response, because he wouldn't move his hands!
I think this lad is hooked for life now!

I live in a coastal city and I like going on a pier to watch the sunset.
I parked the bike nearby and went to enjoy the nature's show.
when I came back to the bike there were two groups of tourist surrounding it....one group was filming the bike and the second one was waiting...I stopped in distance to watch what was going on....as soon as the first group ended filming the bike the second group started taking pictures.
I came near the bike and got a few compliments...
