Well, as of last Thursday, I have a new to me 2001 Night Train with 11.5k miles in the stable! It has been quite a journey, too. Have been round and round as to what direction I wanted to go..I think things through to the point that it is a fault! Posted several of those "this vs that" posts and got many replies with good food for thought. Test rode several different bikes. Dynas, softails, and a touring bike or two. In the end, the NT was the one that stirred the emotions. This particular bike especially. I've put about 200 miles on it so far and I'm already thinking about what I want to do first. Seat has won that argument! LOL Want to find a nice two up seat with a driver backrest and adequate passenger seat so that I can bring my wife along for the first time to enjoy my passion as well. Will have other questions I know as I get to know my bike. But for now, just wanted to let everyone know that I appreciate the encouragement and friendliness of this board. Glad to be on board now as an owner. I'm a bit of a quiet guy and lurk most of the time but hopefully I will have some things to contribute now based on experience!
I know it didn't happen without pics so here is one I took yesterday morning before heading out on a nice ride. Yeah, I know....those hideous reflectors on the back fender are already gone as of this afternoon!
Welcome to the fold. Enjoy your nice ride. See your talking seats, might visit Mean City Cycles website and do a search on here for them. They do a bang up job of repadding seats with memoryfoam Just a thought for your riding pleasure.
That's a clean looking bike you found. I can see why you decided on it. I am sure you will get a ton of ideas on here as what direction you will go with it.
Thanks for the replies, everyone! Night Train, I have spent a good bit of time already on the NT picture thread. Some great looking bikes there for sure! I have heard really good things about Mean City Cycles but in this case, I need to get something with more room for my wife. Bike has a badlander on it as you can see in the pic. I can make it do for a short haul, but that tiny passenger portion just aint gonna cut it! Actually have given thought to the HD "touring" seat with driver backrest. Anyone had any experience with one? I may send the badlander in to Mean City for some foam redo once I get something for two up.
As far as bike names go.......Nighttrain is as badass as it gets!! A great bike and if I were a young man, I'd have one just for the name alone!! Sweet bike !! Congrats!!
