I guess I'm a dork since I wear cowboy boots and cowboy hats, but they are alligator and ostrich boots and the hats are 100X. Does this make me less a dork? Plus, I have horses that I paid way more than my harley's! I guess I am a real dork.
Nah, I'd say you know what it's all about. Living horses were around way before the iron ones.
I have several patches. However, there is only 1 that I would consider putting on a jacket and that is the 9/11 Memorial Ride patch. It remains to be seen whether or not I actually sew it on (or have my wife sew it on - I like my fingers just the way they are).
When I first read this topic, I was thinking it was about MC patches. For that, no thanks. I'm an individual and don't believe that I could find a group or club that has precisely the same ideals and morals that I have. So, it's better for me to just ride my bike for my own enjoyment.
Also, I wouldn't take offense by the dork (you know, there is something satisfying about typing that word) comments. I suspect someone, somewhere could call anyone, anywhere a dork for some reason or another. I never was overlly concerned about what someone - who doesn't know me - thinks about me.
I rode that bike to MB a couple years ago. It's about a 6 hour ride from here. That sig pic was taken while en route. By the time we were on the way back, I'd have traded that thing for a Yugo, with no A/C! I'll have to say the apes really aren't bad. I like em a lot, but no windshield on a trip like that is not for me anymore.
The only patch jacket I have is the one with all my military patches, unit insignias, rank patch, etc. I wear it a few times a year, memorial day, veterans day, etc. Otherwise it stays safe at home, since I doubt I could replace many of the patches on it.
The rest of the time, no patches at all. I've served my time proudly in the only "club" that interests me. I ride because I love to ride, not to "belong" or to brag.
I wear a Doo Rag under my helmet cause I don't have any hair--when I did--I was taller by the way--anyhow the Doo absorbes the sweat and keeps my helmet from smelling like my boots when I take them off.
My vest has patches and pins mostly from places I've ridden to, or special rides I've been on, such as a local "support the troops" ride. Most of the guys I ride with, or hang with, or just see at local dealers or hang-outs do too. I don't think I'm dorky, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to call any of these guys "dork" either. If you don't like 'em,..don't wear 'em,...but don't put others down if they do!

No vest, no patches, never will. If I wanted to look like a dork I'd become a Shriner.
Yeah, you look about as aerodynamic as a parachute in that picture. [sm=smiley14.gif]

Hey Dhutchinson, are your arms tired yet?
Not yet, but no windshield sure sucks! [:@]
