Man, what a bunch of thin-skinned people here! I would guess the comment about shriners looking like dorks is in reference to wearing the hats and riding minibikes in parades. These are some great people (shriners), and they do great things. They are also secure enough to have fun and make others smile (while wearing their hats and riding their minibikes) without worrying about being called a dork. Who cares? God bless 'em. 'Nuff said.
we know all about that, and that is what we are doing, having some fun, lighten up a little..I'm sure we all respect the good that the shriners do, the fact of the matter is my mother-in-law is in a masonic health facitiles as we speak..did I get upset when some body said I was a dork for my pirate vest with patches, or the fact that I wear a patch over my eye, or parrot poop on my left shoulder.[sm=biker.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif]
Whoa,
I thought that wearing parrot poop on your left shoulder meant that you were Gay,
Or is it the right shoulder,
Or maybe it'sif you wear a PATCH, over your left eye means you are gay,
Now I am all confused as to how to wear my Pirate outfit,[sm=sigh.gif]
No vest, no patches, never will. If I wanted to look like a dork I'd become a Shriner.
If Shriners are dorks PLEASE put me in that category. I would be very honored. The Shriners are wonderful people. When they heard about my nephew and his intestines intwined into his spine they immediately offered help. No charge for NOTHING! My nephew was going to die because of this problem. He would have to have operations every 6 months after the 1st operation for the next 16 years of his life to expand his spine so that he could grow. His parents felt they should not take their offer because they had the resources to pay for the operations with their insurance and money. The shriners still offered saying we are here for ALL children and we think we have the best Hospital for your need. The childs parents did not want to take up the Shriners resources in the hopes that more money could be spent on kids with financial needs so they went to Charleston SC and had the surgery done. Reason why they didnt go to the shriners is they would not accept any money period. Point is WE DIDNT ASK FOR THEM TO HELP THEY CAME TO US! Very humble people that just want to help kids. If that isnt cool then I want to be a dork.

Normally I don't consider myself thin-skinned, but I just got my fur up when I read the reply. Knowing as you how much good Shriners do I was'nt sure why the reference to just Shriners as looking like dorks, but then I realized it was also about wearing a vest with patches makes you look like a dork also.
I guess I'm a double dork. I guess I just need to lighten up...

I SAY AGAIN. Go to a Shriner hospital and allow yourself the honor/privelage of spending time with a child that has been helped. Ask that child what a Shriner looks like?

OK Buttman, pay attention here if you please, its a parrot on the left shoulder and the patch on the right eye and that means your a straight pirate, unless of course you been at sea for over 6 months straight, then anything goes..[sm=icon_stickpoke.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif]
