After visiting a real Doctor, and not achieving relief, I too ended all my foot problems with a trip to the "New Balance" store.
So I suggest screwing the doc's outa their fare share and go strait to the source of permanent relief. They have the means to scope "your" foots needs and sell you the corresponding insert for you.
The inserts I purchased four years ago have as of yet to deform or crush under the toe, ball or heal area. What more could anyone wish for. And for a damned lot less than the other alternatives!
More than $0.02 worth!
pm you my bill!

funny you should mention newbalance... my boots are dunham boots...made by newbalance....they are every bit as comfortable as any pair of sneakers I ever wore...currently the most comfortable shoes I own. Unfortunately they don't make my boot anymore.
Well, I have been looking at some of the threads lately. I havn't quite made up my mind if I want to go with a 3/4 or FF. If I go with a 3/4 I like the looks of the Fulmer V2. I have a big head (7 3/4 baseball hat) and I don't really want a mushroom head, but if it means better saftey than I can live with it.
As for FF, there are a lot of different ones that I like, i guess it will come down to actually trying them on and see which is most comfortable.
Any DOT helmet= mushroom head, that's the trade-off for a bit of safety. I like the V2 and I found a place in OKC that carries them. They had every size in stock except the XL, so I'm waiting for their next shipment to arrive. It seems these helmets run a bit on the small side.

Reason: added on
Check out the Scorpion EX-900. It's a FF modular that converts to a 3/4. It has plenty of vents. My wife has one and she really likes it in the FF mode. She hasn't tried the 3/r mode yet. I wear a half myself.
Based on my wife's experience, do not go to a podiatrist. Go to a real MD, a foot specialist.
the podiatrist that did my foot surgery to reset an old broken bone will be interested to know that he isn't a real doctor. I wonder if the board the certified him knows?!?
