I just bought a 2009 Ultra Classic 4 weeks ago. I want some good boots but do not want to spend $300 or more. I like the Velcro closures so you can slip your foot in easy and then tighten them down. Does anyone wear these Alpinestars boots? If so, what are your likes and dislikes? Also, do they run small compared to your regular shoe size? Thanks
I buy my boots from manufacturers that have been in business for a long time. I have never bought a pair of boots from HD.
Alpine Stars is a notable Italian company. However, they are more into competition motorcycle footwear and riding suits and gloves. If you have ever watched the Isle of Man TT race, all the leather suits are pretty much made by AP, including the boots and gloves. Those Roam WP boots have a definite European slant. Nothing wrong with that, but it is what it is.
All that said, my favorite brands of boots for cruisers/baggers are Danner, Red Wing, and if you have the coin, Sidi. Guess my favorite of the three is Danner....for comfort right out of the box and price.
Whatever you get, make sure it has some good gripping soles. Don't buy anything slick or you WILL drop your bike when your foot slips on pine straw, leaves, acorns, pebbles, sand...well you get the picture.

I have a pair of Alpinestars that I use when I ride my sportbike. Although, they are not the Roam WP model. If you want this type of boot, you can find a lot of different manufactures and cheaper price points. Last pair of these I bought were made by/for Triumph. They work as well as my Alpines, but were a little cheaper. I guess the only negitive thing I can say about this style of boot is that they are made for riding and not walking. If you plan to ride somewhere you might stop and walk a lot, these may not be the right style for you.
Personally I go with Justin boots for about everything. I have 4 or 5 pairs of these. Wear them every day for 12 to 15 hours a day very comfortable, they don't really need to broke in and won't break the bank.
I have not had those, but do have the BMW Allround boots. Motorcycle Consumer News rated them the best waterproof boot. Easy to walk in, also very comfortable to wear.
I have been wearing a pair of Alpinestars for almost 2 years. I can walk in these all day and they never hurt my feet. In 90+ weather they get to hot but for anything else, you cant beat them. I looked inside for a name and didnt see anything so I took a pic....they are true to size....good luck with your search.
