I shopped within a 100 mile radius,, (I know, not everyone has 6 Harley dealers within that far) I had been visiting three of these at least three times a month looking for used SG inventory. When the wife asked me, "When are you going to quit looking and buy?" (God I love that woman!) I told her,, your right, guess I'll have a Street Glide this by this weekend......

I was on the phone with these dealers Saturday,, Monday,, and Tuesday morning, I had came to the conclusion that I can't find a used one,, but two of the dealers told me I could get a NEW 09,,,, so I started pricing that way,,,
By 1pm my closest dealer asked me,, "Why do you want a new 09"? I told her, that I figured that would be the "Best price/deal" out there,, she asked would I be interested if they could meet that price on a '10. I said sure...
Well they did more than meet it,, they beat it by 300.00! I got into my '10 FLHX with 1.3 miles on it for 3,500.00 BELOW MSRP... 17,500.00 OTD! (NO tax ect... we don't pay that at the dealer)

We have a great dealership here in Pensacola (actually 125 miles from my house) but they WILL NOT install aftermarket parts, including tires, that aren't purchased through their dealership. I have never understood this policy.

JackD, good post.

Because the economy is in the crapper, some folks have an entitlement mentality and expect a smokin' deal the moment they walk in the door. On the other hand, some just don't know how to negotiate.

There's a Harley dealer about 5 miles from my house. They don't deal, so I bought my bike from a different dealer located 85 miles away. I got a better deal, and the ride home was a nice way to get acquainted with the new ride.

If a dealer wants to make a sell, they will do what they need to. My local dealer had the bike I wanted, would not deal on it. I went 160 miles away to a another dealer and made a deal for $1800 less. They did not have the bike in stock, so it took 4 days to get it in. When I am leaving I ask where the bike came from and they tell me they went to my local dealer and picked it up with their enclosed trailer. So basically it was $1800 off the top plus they drove 320 miles to pick it up. That made no sense, especially considering I contacted my local dealer to ask if they would match the better price.

Thanks for the info my man!
I don't need much of an excuse to take that ride anyway!
My front will be replaced in Albany under the warranty/recall but when the rear time comes....Bend here I come!
Maybe I will give you a shout.....

Give them a call he said they would be hard to beat for tire prices. I called, Eugene, Albany, Salem, and three dealers in Portland and and even a couple on Indy dealers and nobody was near Cascades price.

When i bought my first harley, the bikes weren't even on the floor. You had to order the harley and wait 9 months for it. There was no bargining for the bike, the price was the price and you waited for it. Even though there was no killer deal, i liked knowing the day my bike would be born, it gave me extra time to save the cash, and it was awesome when they delivered it, knowing it was built for me. I hate walking in the showroom now and just picking somthing out.

Hello everyone, I was offered a great deal overseas but on a whim I emailed a local dealer and the sales manager beat the military rate by $350. I was happy to give a local dealer my money so the wife went and bought the bike. Now I just have to get out of Afghanistan so I can ride! This is my first Harley but Stone Mountain HD treated us well.

Totally off-subject, but my family and I thank you (and your family) for your military service. Enjoy the hell outta that bike!
