Sorry I meant to quote the post about your buddy"s glide with bars for $300
I really have a hard time believing this. Was that just install price or install plus parts? Bars alone are about $200. Then new lines and cables are another $200. Install for baggers run about 8 hours, so say he went to a cheap dealer $60/hr (thats pretty low) that would mean install is $480. Total cost $880 Again bagger bars are more and labor is longer. Maybe he got some kind of deal being he bought the bike, but that is a rough break down of the cost.

Yes from what I have read on these forums I believe it was a good price and IMO and my wifes it was money well spent. She is very happy with the bars and the cahnge of riding position has made her alot more comfortable on the bike. She has a bad back so that was the main reason I did this anyway.
The reason this came up was one of the guys in our group just bought a brand new Electra Glide. He says he got 14" Apes installed w/ internals at the dealer for around $300 I think that is why they are thinking I got screwed??
1) It is apples to oranges or
2) He got a Heck of deal most will not or
3) Call him on it.......have him show you the invoice because $300 parts and labor for anything other then Heritage bar swap sounds way low.
Of course # 4 is maybe some do not, but in my case as much as I shop once in awhile I realize I overpaid on some item. Big deal, it's gonna happen and I am willing to bet you did not pay twice as much for the same item in this case.

Like others have said...As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. I think you got a fair deal and there will always be people saying they got it done cheaper or they could have done it themselves.
That's not a bad deal man, As long as you are happy and the **** ain't scratched or dented you did golden... i on the other hand took my 2008 nightster to a mom and pop shop and the guy scratched the speedo dented the tank and scratched my bike and all i had to pay for was damage repair that cost me 450 and three weeks at the dealer. damn my luck...... In your case the dealer cost would have been $800

Your buddy is pulling your leg because bagger bar labor is much more than your wifes bike. And what you paid is right on point, you got a good deal. Just call your local HD dealer and ask them what they had charged. It's a lot of time involved in the internal wiring and lengthening the wires with all the cutting, soldering and shrink wrapping.
Bottom line is like others have said..."As long as you're happy with the job is all that matters"

Yeah, he probably got a discount for buying the bike from them, but he probably got scr#wed worse on the initial cost of the bike. OR the dealer put crappy apes, cheap lines and cables on his bike. The dealers these days are not going to take a very "hard hit", no matter how much they like you....

Yes I believe you are absolutely correct...The dealer her is well known for this.
Matuchi, The pipes are next she needs some BAD! but I just put some Shirt Shots on mine. So with the bars on hers my HD fund is low.
Thanks to all for your input you have eased my mind tremendously.
. the real issue is. were you pleased with the work. do you feel ok with what you paid. doesnt matter if someone else caould of been cheaper or if someone else might of managed to haggle better as long as you felt good at the time the agreement was made.
