I just got these Burly narrow apes installed on my wifes Iron by a local indy shop. I was charged for parts which included the bars new (Black)cables/ wiring etc.. Labor was about 5 hours for internal wiring and installation and the final bill was right around $650...We went riding with our group yesterday and some of the guys were saying I got F%&#@! Opinions being what they are I figured i would post this thread to get some input from the HDF community.
The shop doesn't work for free...so 5 hrs labor complete with all parts installed I would say no...I personally would have done the work myself, I'm sure that's why some are saying you got azz raped
looks like you made out good to me. the real issue is. were you pleased with the work. do you feel ok with what you paid. doesnt matter if someone else caould of been cheaper or if someone else might of managed to haggle better as long as you felt good at the time the agreement was made.
Yes from what I have read on these forums I believe it was a good price and IMO and my wifes it was money well spent. She is very happy with the bars and the cahnge of riding position has made her alot more comfortable on the bike. She has a bad back so that was the main reason I did this anyway.
The reason this came up was one of the guys in our group just bought a brand new Electra Glide. He says he got 14" Apes installed w/ internals at the dealer for around $300 I think that is why they are thinking I got screwed??
They look good, yes much less then if you did yourself but either you didn't want to, didn't have time/skill or whatever. If you like the work and feel they treated you fair who cares what they think!

He could have gotten a deal on the install since the bike was bought new. Some dealers do this with a new purchase.
The dealer I bought mine from did this.

Labor was probably 350.00-400.00,+ 200.00 in parts You didn't get the deal of a lifetime but you sure didn't get f@@"#%.
As long as your happy it's all good.
There will ALWAY'S be somebody on the forum who got a way better deal than you did.
