As soon as possible (listen to the engine) close the choke slowly (Maybe in stages).
Get a new battery (and a battery tender if the bike is going to sit for weeks between rides).
I twist the throttle three times also (like pumping the gas pedal on a car) Of course, most of you don't remember when cars had chokes

Correct. And if it pops and dies. Pump it twice and hit the button. Its an Evo thing.

I set my choke and twist the throttle a couple times while cranking it. When it fires, I adjust the choke in a little at a time untill warmed up. I have a '96 evo all stock except the SE Breather kit.

I had a 98 cmc. 88" S&S Rocket engine and S&S carb. On a cold engine, raise enrichener. Then hit starter while twisting throttle. should start right away. I never let it idle much with enrichener on as it would then tnd to back fire. I always rode very mellow for 10 minutes or so until it warmed up.

Thanks so much. Ya its a 97 CMC. Well after trying different things..Seems like it was just not getting enuff fuel. 4-5 twists seems to be the key..and the whole time I thought I was flooding it. Pics will come, cant wait to share with you all my first bike.
