I would recommend the Garmin Zumo 550 and above. It comes with everything you need to use it in the cage too. You can download Harley dealers and the Harley splash screen for free.
I ride with a Garmin Nuvi. Nope...it is not 'weather proof'. Had it on my sportster, then my Fatboy....now on my Ultra. The price on Nuvi's has come down.....and can get one
for less than $200. Has MP3, blue tooth cell phone stuff...plus stuff I don't know how to work.
Me? I could buy three of my Nuvi's for the price of a Zumo. But no need to...mine works fine.
I just picked up the NUVI 550 for my Road King and my truck. I looked at the Zumo 550 but decided I didn't need the bluetooth, MP3, etc. and the price was less then impressive. Both units are waterproof. I picked up a Ram mount for the bike and I am ready to go for under $250.
If price isn't an issue for you the Zumo unit is very nice. If you are looking for a comperable unit without the frills, take a look at the NUVI unit. In my case the NUVI takes care of all my needs.
I have a Maggellan 4250 with a Ram Mount for about 3 years wth no problems, its not waterproof but i seldom ride in the rain. It out performed a more expensive motorcycle GPS last year going up to Maine. I have taken it on 3 fly and ride vacations. You can also get a cup holder that will fit the mount from Ram to hold your drink when you are not using your GPS. It works for me.
I looked around and finally bought the HD zumo 660. It did not come with a bike mount, but did have the car mount...go figure you buy one from HD and they only give you the car mount. I have a SG so I went with the fairing mount.
I love the 660, peace of mind with the vibration and rain issues.
a lil pricey, but I bought mine from Chicago HD on line, which had the cheapest price.

+1 for the Magellan 4250. No problem with mine either. I have no need for a Zumo 550. Don't need bluetooth, don't need MP3 and don't need XM radio.
As for waterproof, no problem with the Magellan so far. I put it in a ziploc bag when it rains and when it pours, I stop. If I can't see the road, how could I see a 4" screen? LOL

Garmin 760. 4 years old no problems. Not water proof but I have ridden in the rain with it. Fairing keeps it dry unless it's just plain pouring out. Then sandwich bags work.
