there is no requirement for a helmet to have the DOT label after the point of sale. just like the "do not remove" tag on pillows and mattresses. it's there so the buyer will know what they are getting. not very likely an LEO will stop you only for a helmet violation.
I do have a DOT sticker that says DOT- Dept of Turkeys

You could always get real radical and buy a helmet with a DOT sticker already on it.

Why not just spend 69$ at Crappy tire and get one thats legit, thinking is they will pull you over anyhow then try to prove your helmet is not legit cause of that sticker
