Question ironhead carburetor

Can someone tell me where the tube that come out the back of the floatbowl goes to? I have a 72 ironhead and it has a stock HD carb. Off what I dont know. The shop put it on when I was fed up with a SU eliminator I had on it. Anyway I believe it has always been plugged but now it pours gas as soon as I turn the gas on. There was just a crusty old piece of hose about an inch long that was plugged on the barb. Anybody can tell me something I'd appreeesheateit.

Sounds like the overflow tube, and your float is sticking.

yep sounds liek the overflow, i have mine routed down behind the cases to the ground if its pourign fuel out then you need to clean your float bowl and needle valve seat, be very carefull not to damage the needle valve attached to the float. PM me if you need any advice on rebuildign it.

Thanks Coyote & Road Master. That makes sense. My sporty's been hibernating for about 5 years and that happend once before after a layoff in 92'. I thought it was coming from the top last time though. She did fire up on the fifth kick after five years though and I've been running it around on my private property for a week before this happend. Normally I do drop the float but I couldn't get the screwdriver to bite on them bugered up screws. Guess I'll have to now. Thanks again from Fayetteville NC, home of the 82nd Airborne.
