i thought about puttign this in the ironhead section but figured it might pertain to ALL harleys not just the generator equiped bikes.
currently i run a bycycle speedo on my 69, i thought about puttign a proper speedo on but decided that the costs involved and lack of know how nullified that. anyway the other day i found the sensor wire coming fro mthe front wheel was broke so i picked up a wirless unit to test out.
now these wirless units use RF waves i belive to transmit the signal from the hub mlounted sensor to the readout display. well i found out that the electromagnetic whatever created by the generator mounted on my bike creates an interference zone that prevents the signal from beign transmited in a 4ft radius of the generator.
in other words my speedo doesnt read out anything unless the sensor and receiver are 3.5-4ft away from the generator. oh and that also explaisn why my bluetooth headset/ear piece would never work on my bike. just a friendly heads up to make sure theres no interference if your using wireless equipment with your bike * headsets, speedos etc etc *. so i went back to a wired byccle speedo LOL
Could it be the high voltage from the plug wires leaking and causing the interference? That would cause a large electromagnetic field that could cause problems.

never thought about that, i will have to figure out a way to test that. hmmmmmmm
