I put a Harley quick release windshield on my 2010 Super Glide and it works just fine....no buffeting. It cam's onto the triple tree, and has about 2 inches of travel up or down the tubes, but even at the highest setting I can see over the top. One of the things I like about it is that it doesn't stick out much and ruin the bike's clean lines, AND the bottom part somewhat protects the front of the tank from flying rocks....better the windshield than the beautiful paint.
You will learn to really enjoy a shield, especially in the rain and on long trips on the highway.Passing rigs on the highway might make you nervous at first, you will get used to it.
I put a shield on my Street Bob from day one(the tall one)...too many big trucks carrying rocks and dirt in Houston...Personally I hated it..I wear a helmet and so it the wind knocks the head around after shield...this was a full face...and starting wearing a half helmet and it helped alot!! and was best without one..but I dont do that...
I got tired of the wind and bought a 2009 EGC

There is one problem with the shield. If you were happy before going 65 mph, you will now go 85 mph. Even though it is detachable you will not detach it very often.
I have one on my '99 FXR2. Hate the looks of it on the bike and only use it for long trips and when the temps/wind is cooler. It DOES make a difference BUT I LIKE the wind in my face so tend to ride without as much as possible. Ditto on the height so you just look OVER it, not thru it.
