I have the quick release windscreen on my Nightster. I can see over it by about 4 inches. Wearing my full face helmet the buffeting is so bad it's almost unusable. Although, when I wear my half helmet the buffeting is noticeable, but much less than the full face.
well i went ahead and bought a windshield today....It's a quick release....craigs list $250....like new condition.....I love it!!! my radio sounds super clear on lower volume....no more shiot hitting my face.....no more having to grip tight to my bars because of windgusts....sweeet!!!!
I like mine I can look over the top or slump and look through I don't mind ridding without one but with all the bugs and rocks and such I guess I'm sissyfied now. Memphis Shades on my bike now.
I couldn't stand the buffeting or the looks of the shield on my bike, so I took it off. I don't think I could ever go back to running a shield. It just takes too much away from the riding experience to me. I've road in plenty of rain and dust storms without the shield and I still wouldn't consider putting it back on.
You will learn to really enjoy a shield, especially in the rain and on long trips on the highway.Passing rigs on the highway might make you nervous at first, you will get used to it.
Nervous? It's all I can do to not accelerate into the sumbitches head-on! I may not have mass, but I have attitude. Try it, they'll probably move.
My last 2 bikes had windshields (03 Sportster w/detachable and an 06 EG) but I don’t have one for my bike now. I will probably buy one though, because they make long-distance riding so much more comfortable. I live in a no helmet state, so after a few rocks and bugs to the face, I may change my mind and keep it on for local rides!
