I've got the HD mesh jacket. It's all gray with some orange reflective piping and it's conservatively badged (normal size, reflective bar and shield on left breast). Also came with elbow and shoulder armor.
Very comfortable and actually makes riding in the blaring sun more comfortable than a t-shirt. Breathes really well and keeps the sun off. Forget what it cost me.. maybe $100?
I have a Tourmaster Transition Jacket. Works great. I take the liner out for summer riding. It was pretty cheap (maybe $130?). Well worth the money. I tried two other jackets previously, A Joe Rocket textile and some other cheap textile jacket I got from Jafrum. Both of those felt like they had strips of sandpaper inside them. two of the most uncomfortable jackets I've ever worn. When the tourmaster wears out I'll be buying another one.
I have a River Road that I paid less than $100 for. Its okay and I added a reflective HD patch on the back. If I was looking for another I'd consider the Tour Masters brand...but you may have to part your HD in front of a Honda dealer to find one. ...Or park in the rear.
I'm working on my second one - live near Palm Springs and can't do without it in the
summer. Mine is a First Gear - top rated by Motorcycle Consumer News. Lots of others
are also good now - caught up. Check this outfit for good deals under "closeouts".
I bought this jacket last fall. It's pretty decent quality for a $59 and change jacket. I haven't used the jacket without the liner yet, so I can't comment on how well it ventilates.
The wife and I both have HD Switch Back jackets and rode them from Albuquerque to the east coast and then Albuquerque to the west coast. They are perfect for the open road due to the zip off section being able to be removed when the temps warm up, then the air flow through the mesh actually creats a cooling effect under the nylon upper shell on your arms. They also give pretty good protection from light rain (300 miles of it in Kentucky). A little on the heavy side but still very comfortable.
I love them both. I much prefer textile and mesh over leather. The mesh jacket is actually cooler to wear than just a t-shirt, because it keeps the sun off you, but you still get all the ventilation. It's a great solution.
