Default how about a Norton?

Seriously thinking about a '74 Commando.

Am I alright? Should I seek help?

It will live right next to the Softail - will they fight?

Any help is appreciated!!

Go for it. Great bike. They will get along well. The softail will think of it as a grouchy old grandmother.

Hey, always wanted a high rider. Great looking bike. It's a shaker though. They put rubber in it's motor mounts that they called isolatic something or other but you still had to periodically tighten stuff. You will be looking at your norton but riding your softail. Also, hope it's black. A black norton looks badass.

Back in 1974, that was arguably the best motorcycle in production.
I've got an old Brit & it's like Spotter says, "You will be looking at your norton but riding your softail."

Great motorcycle, I would get one now but people have seemed to figured out what they have and the prices are starting up. Watch out for the right side shift, may take a little getting used to.

It's a great bike.... your softail will be proud to share garage space with it...

but.... it's a bike from the "golden age".....
which means you ride one hour... you WRENCH one hour....

lots of places online for parts these days

I learned to ride on a 1967 Atlas 750. It was definitely a bike with character.
The Commando was somewhat refined, awesome handling bikes in their time.

scootchnc, you're right about the "golden age".

Great bike.

Buy it because you love it, because you just enjoy being around the bike. It will need a lot of love, and money. But you'll learn a lot.
