Default Running wires through the bars

I want to clean up my handlebars and run the wires through the bars. I plan on drilling the holes for the wires and feeding the wires through. I was wondering if anyone has done this and how hard was it. Any gotcha's that I should know about? I'm pretty mechanical. I do all of my own maintenance and did my own wiring harness for my passing lights.

Piece of cake man. Check out jrk5892 he just did a nice write up on this very thing. Make sure you make a diagram of the desutch fittings and drill atleast a half inch hole at the grips and an elongated one in between the clamps. DE BURR EVERYTHING!!!

+2 deburr everything twice!

Then run a q-tip or cotton ball and if it catches then you need to reburr some more. You may, but probably wont, have to lengthen cables, so this after you fish the wires thru to minimize the bulk of stuff going thru the bars.

i have done it and yes it is pretty easy just take your time and you will do fine. just remember it's better to have to much wire then not enough.

Make certain you make the holes elongated where the dimples in the handlebar are located. This will make for easier feeding of the wiring. And as others have said.....deburr so that the holes are smooth.

The bonus with running your wiring inside the handlebars is the fact that if/when you have any electrical problems you will know exactly where to look.
