I'm looking into buying a good pair of riding glasses. I'm leaning towards 7eye because I like their styles along with the protection factor. The day/night transition lenses are also a benefit.
I wear contacts and I'm concerned about the wind drying out my eyes at highway speeds. Should I be looking for a 100% total seal or will 75% protection be good enough?
Also what othe brands do you contact lens wearers prefer?
Just using my regular sunglasses (Oakley's) for now. It's a little rough at the moment after being on the highway during this bad allergy/pollen spell. My eyes just itch and water all night it seems. WileyX seems to be another popular brand mentioned around here. I had a chance to try on the Brick? model at Bass Pro Shops and was quite impressed. I'll probably end up picking up a pair with transition lenses, but I'm holding off until I get a chance to check out the 7eye line.
I have a pair of the no name ones that have the foam around both eyes. Work so well you have to adjust yer glasses every so often so yer eyes can breathe. The ones in my av are them.
There does not have to be any kind of seal around your eyes. Anything that has solid bridge across the nose and covers the outside corners of your eyes will prevent the wind from getting to your eyes. Wire rims will not work. Safety glasses work great.
I have the Panoptix(now 7eye) day/night transition lenses and they're great. The only issue is they're not not true sunglasses and when riding into a rising or setting sun they don't give max eye protection.
In a word, RayBan! I use the ones in the link below, they wrap nicely to stop wind and they are polarized so they take most glare out of the view. http://www.ray-ban.com/usa/products/rb3183/004-82
I highly recommend these...

Got a pair of harley and wileyx in goggle form. Both have foam around the eyes and extremely comfortable. As a contact wearer I'd suggest getting something with foam or your eyes will water non stop. Check ebay and you'll come across some good deals. I got the harley ones for $3 and the wileyx for $25...both brand new.
