I just dont understand why so many people on this forum ride Harleys and love to bash the company. If they are that pissed they ought to buy a Honda or something, or maybe that three wheeled thingie.
From the data, it looks like all the restructuring and adjusted production is paying off. It also doesn't hurt that they've turned their financial services around and are showing a profit there. Still, a drop of shipments from 349,000+ units in 2006 to a projected shipment total of 201,000 (a drop of 42%) is very serious. The downside of that is a lower profit margin per unit, which may mean a move to outsourcing/offshoring of some manufacturing and assembly work.
Bottom line, they are still profitable, relatively healthy, and doing the things they need to do to survive in a tough market, all positive things to me. I'm encouraged by what they are doing and believe they'll be around for a long time. Smaller, maybe, but still alive and kicking.

My thoughts exactly. I am so glad they are holding onto a profit, even if it is down. I think the quality is holding its own, though there are still too many isolated incidents. Long live the HDMOCO!

EVERY company in the world that builds any kind of machines has problems with them now and again.
My sister has a Chevy Impala that has been nothing but problems since she drove it off the lot. She didn't know about lemon laws but GM has worked with her on it so well she can drive it forever and get it fixed for free.
We have an Impala just like it .... not one problem.
It happens .... a bad vehicle slips through now and again not matter the make.
Think Jap stuff is perfect???? Look at what Toyota is going through now.
Wanna get rid of your Harley, buy a Jap bike and bash Harley???
Go ahead .... you know what they say .........
DON'T LET THE DOORKNOB HIT YOU ON THE **** ON THE WAY OUT!
