BAD wreck
A tweeker in a dumptruck ran over 8 bikes at a stoplight. One was riding double so there were 4 killed, 5 injured.
I happened by the scene just after the ambulances left.
Was very scary. 5 mangled bikes were strewn across the highway, one of them thrown into the oncoming lane. 3 bikes were under the the cab of the dumptruck which had burned to the ground.
The Explorer, which was in front of the bikes as they were all stopped at the light, was badly smashed in the rear from the dumptruck.
People at the scene who spoke to the injured before they were taken away reported that the dumptruck had been 'blocking' the bikes for many miles not aloowing them to pass. They finally got around him which angered the tweeker. He followed them and caught up to the group at the stoplight. There were NO skidmarks at the scene.
He had several previous traffic violations. Police arrested him one week later stating that he had tested positive for meth at the scene.
Scary stuff.
I went on the "Solidarity Run" the next day to New River. Must have been over 500 bikes showed up there with overnite notice.

All I can say is that i feel sorry for the riders that at no fault of there own lost there lives that day and for the family members that are left behind.
Remember this when you are out riding. at any minute or second anything can happen. NEVER let your guard down, and always try to know what is going on around you 360 degrees at all times.
I hadn't heard of this story until now, and all I can do is sit here looking at the computer screen shaking my head, thinking what a waste. Also makes me think of past brothers that never made it home from a ride.
Maybe sometimes we need to hear (although it should never happen) about this type of stuff to snap us back to reality, and to make us look at areas where our riding might have lapsed at.
...still shaking head in disbelief
