I needed to change my primary oil so I decided to do a clutch adjustment while I was at it. The only wrench I could get to fit the lockdown nut on the clutch was a 17MM METRIC! I what size wrench do any of you guys use? Maybe I'm missing one from my regular set. That aside, was an easy job.
its 17MM...my fxd has 28MM axle nut. metric allens on front fork bolts. aint it great?
as far as the clutch. i took a 17MM impact socket and welded a big nut on the end. that way i can put the allen wrench on the end and tighten it. really works great.

I did the same except I used an 11/16" socket. I had been a little nervous about messing with the clutch after readig about people having problems. It was a piece of cake. I initially adjusted 1/2 turn but still wasn't happy with the feel of the clutch. Tried 3/4 turn and it is just right.

17mm = 11/16" I bought a gearwrench pass thru socket set from Sears and a set of T handle allen wrenches. They allow me to hold the allen adjustment screw while securing the lock nut so the adjustment does not move on me. It's nice but not essential, you can do it easy enough with a regular allen wrench and an offset box wrench.
I think the people who have made the pushrod adjustment and had problems afterwards...failed to put slack in the cable before making the adjustment.
