I picked up a Corbin gunfighter and lady seat off ebay for about 100 bucks recently. The tang on the front and the rear bracket are both loose. I called the Corbin factory in CA today to see if someone could tell be what I'd need to do to tighten them up. An actual person answered the phone and I explained to her what I needed. She said no prob, let me get you someone to help. Within 2 seconds a guy answers who I think worked in the factory, and in 3 minutes he explained to me how to fix the issue. Total time on my cell phone--3mins 21 secs.
I'm a little bummed that I am going to have to drill out the rivets and replace them with lags, but I was impressed with the service so I thought I'd pass it along.
Hello to the forum, I am very new to the forum, actually my first post, I have learned allot from all of you good folks and recieved many ideas for my Nightrain, thanks to all.
Just thought I would add my .02, I just ordered a corbin gunfighter with backrest, corbin solo with backrest for my wifes Dyna, both seats were shipped 2 1/2 weeks after I ordered and arrived 5 days later. Great customer service, I wish everyone else the same luck.
Thanks again for all of the insight you all have provided.
Terrepin88, I have the GF&L on my 1999 FXR2. Great seat with over 63K miles on it now. Depending on the condition of your Ebay find, you got a great deal I think. Many people feel Corbins are hard seats but I found once I got it broke in, it is tops.
Unfortunately I have decided recently that Corbin isnt the company it was 10 years ago and I am spending my money on a new seat from C&C for my new StreetGlide.
hoethree, it is used with some wear, but intact and no rips or tears. My only bitch is the loose brackets, but for the price I think I scored. I have wanted one for 10 years, but I couldn't justify the high price. At least now I can satisfy my curiosity. Of course, I haven't had a chance to sit on it because my bike is on a jack until my wheels come back from the powder coater. That will give me time to fix the brackets anyway.
The guy at corbin recommended eagle one nano-protectant when I asked what I could clean it up and restore it a little. Have you had any experience with this product? The seat feels a little dry, and needs to be conditioned.
Yeah, better than the response I got from them years ago trying to order a bunch of body stuff for my Sportster.I lived about 40 miles from the factory too!
I have used Corbin seats for about the last 14 years. I very much like the seats and received very good customer service the only time I contacted them about a year ago.
Any leather conditioner should help for a dried out seat. I have used a Harley product as well as Langlitz Leather Dressing and Obernauf's Heavy Duty Leather Preservative. Not all on the same item.
