Glad you were okay and your injuries weren't too bad! Hope you and your bike heal quickly!!
I'm sorry to hear that no one stopped to offer you any assistance! I definitely would have stopped day or night!! We went on a ride the end of July and we had one of our friends go down. Some people did stop to see if everyone was okay but there were a ton of cars that didn't stop. I was amazed at how many people just gawked as they drove by but never stopped to see if we needed any help.
Its sad that the world we live in. Makes people too afraid to stop and give someone a helping hand. With that said. They could have at least cracked open a window and asked how bad you was hurt ,and if you needed help. Good to hear your aite.
I'm not surprised people didn't stop, but they could have at the very least reported it to the local P.D, after all, everybody and their mother has a cell phone nowadays... The fact that they didn't even try calling it in is assinine. I would at the very least expect that. [:@] Glad to hear you're ok.
I hope no Harley riders passed you up! That would surprise me.
The curves are where the Harley accidents happen. Saw it on a group ride here in Oregon. Same deal, guy on a sportster was into the curve a bit too fast and overcorrected and down he went. He had all the right riding gear on and just got skinned up a little. The guy behind was not so lucky. He rolled his Kawasiki over a couple of times trying to avoid the sportster and he went through the windshield and broke three ribs and an arm and got some major road rash. He was not wearing any leather at the time. I would not have prevented the broken bones but it would have saved his skin.
Its scary to drop a big bike like a Harley, I have not done it yet, but we all worry that it might happen. I am 65 now and try to ride very defensively but you never know when a deer is going to pop out or someone will hit you from behind. Just have to be carefull and ride as safe as you can.
Glad to hear your gonna be ok. Been there with the cracked ribs, nota a lot of fun. Unfortunately there are people out there who will stage accidents to get people to stop to help them, then rob them, or worse. I can understand people not stoping but at least you would think someone would call 911 to report it.
Thanks for the support guys. I,m actually feeling o.k. (sneezing sucks!) New mirrors comming in Fri. And the guy that manufactures the mustache bar is giving me a real deal on the replacemet. (Nice.) By the way triton, a mustache bar is much like an engine guard. And scout, you're right. I should have flaged someone down. I did call my wife immediately, but I just wasn't thinking. I think maybe I was in shock. That would explain how I effortlessly Picked the fatboy up. Thanks again everyone, there truly are goodpeople here.
