Man, that is very very sad. Some schmuck wants to spend tons of money on his little honda just so he can look over a headlight that belongs on a real motorcycle. Wait....... I feel a sniffle coming on[sm=boosign.gif]
I have had a few occasions that folks i run into or that i know who ride metrics come right out with "nice bike but how do you put up with the oil leaks and drop parts, breaking down and how expensive!!" and so on. I tell them my MSRP was 16.5 that i haven't had any of those problems or any problems at all since i've had it. I follow by telling them i think their bike looks great (they all do to me) and how i bet it screams with their motor (1600's, 1800's, ninja 1200's and so on). That little exchange usually causes them to go on and on about the problems they have with their bike, the cost of parts, the crappy service dept. It's like they're dying to tell me all their bikes problems. Strange thing how it works. I never bad mouth a metrics, but i have had a bunch of metric riders do it themselves. I've never had an HD rider bad mouth their bike to me.
Welcome to to life of Harley. You'll soon find out how great life can be. My buddy just bought a metric and they sure put a lot of effort into looking like a Harley. You will soon have the original, often duplicated, never copied.
I went from a Yamaha to a Harley, Just like many riders going from metric to HD. The one thing I do not get is all the complaining about the price of HD. The guy I ride with the most has a Yamaha roadliner and paid $14,000, I bought my Deuce with all my add ons and paid $17,200. And worth every penny extra but to me not an extreme difference.
As much as folks like what they ride, I've heard time and again from [other type] bike owners that Harley Davidson motorcycles hold their value better than most. My reality is that I just love to ride. The fact that my HD looks real cool (to me anyway) adds to the enjoyment. With over 25,000 trouble free miles, I have no complaints.
