I cover mine with a quality cover so it will not get wet. I also layed pavers on the dirt to park it on. If you don't have a shed, I suggest you do the same.

+1. Other than winter storage mine is in the driveway, under a cover, whenever it's not being ridden. Get a good waterproff cover Be prepared for most hand washes to be of the detailing variety. Don't cover the bike when it's wet or hot. Take care of the cover, washing it whenever you think you might be picking up any grit on its inside. Put down some pavers and keep them swept so the cover isn't picking up gravel. Make sure the cover has a covered vent so that wind doesn't just beat on it but will pass through. You've got to have a contingency plan in case really heavy weather is coming your way... buddies garage... rent an underground parking space (but I wouldn't recommend leaving it there all the time; too easy to steal or strip). Do these things then relax and feel good that you've got your scoot just outside the door, waiting for you.

you should be able to find a used enclosed 5x8 trailer with a ramp .That is what I used when I was renting apartments to shelter my bikes.

As others have already suggested, there are two types of covers. The cheapest are those designed to keep the dust and other crap off the bike but are not water proof. The best are water proof and have material down in the bottom area that is heat resistant so it won't melt if you put it on while the bike is still warm (as in it starts raining when you park).

Spend the money for a good cover until you can buy / build a shed for it.
