Bull, it's just a piece of chit. Looks good, not comfortable. No handle bar problems, no reach problems, no leg or peg problems, no problems other than the piece of chit seat.
It may not be an apparent reach problem, but do you have fwd controls? Like I said from experience, I have no reach problems on the Outlaw due to my size, but your position on the fwds make your butt slide fwd instead of the postion on mids. If you have mids then it IS possible you got a bad seat, and the annoying guy screwed you over. You should have no problems w/400+ miles on a good seat.
I received my Mustang seat today via UPS....installed it tonight. I did borrow one from a friend a month or so ago, found it much more comfortable than the stock seat, as well as the Sundowner seat. Still, with the borrowed seat, I did find myself moving in the seat after 60-90 minutes.
Sorry to hear your experience was not as good as mine.
When I ordered the Mustang seat I also ordered the AirHawk pad....was told by a friend who went to Sturgis (from CT) and did 902 miles in the first day that the AirHawk made all the difference in the world. Ordered it, it also arrived toady and will try it this week.
Again, Bull. This seat was on a Heritage Classic. Yes, the controls are forward of the back tire. Again, a piece of chit. A full one hour seat, for sure.

I can stay on mine for longer than an hour. With the stock seat, 20-30minutes max and I was in pain!
Probably so. I've been one hour behind all my life. Seriously, I could stay on it for 2 hours, but not without much moving around. Glad it works for those of you who like it. It just wouldn't work for me. The response from the designer set me off.
The response from the designer sounds like an attempt to be funny, but with no follow up to his comment it definately moves it into the category of a dumb response. That being said, I work in an industry that involves designing an end product for users and the unfortunate truth is that there will always be a group for whom your product just doesn't work. It's not the customers fault, and provided the designer does everything they can to respond to user feedback, it's not the designers fault. It's just a situation where you can't please everyone (though it helps to not be a wiseass with those that you can't please).
All that being said, after much research on the forums, I bought a Mustang Vintage seat that arrived today. I'll have to see how it works out in the long run, but I have been out for an hour at a time with the stock seat and was basically comfortable. It almost sounds like I have an opposite problem to some with riding a bike with forward controls since I found that I was pushing my rear back a lot and thus had to reach forward to hold on to the handlebars. Seeing the Mustang seat design, and reading about it, it seems that it should help me keep my rear forward so I can adopt a more relaxed riding posture (and after sitting on the bike tonight, it seems like this will be the case). It's certainly unfortunate, though, when a high dollar purchase doesn't work out and a rep from the company doesn't at least express sympathy, even if there is nothing they can do to fix it.
I too enjoyed the mustang seat on my 03 Softail Classic. So, when I got my Ultra I ordered the one piece ultra touring model. The thing is hard as a rock and lifted me up about 1 1/2" which really did not need. They advertize that it is "narrower so that you can plant your feet firmly on the ground". Harrrr I e mailed Mustang and they just really didn't care. They weren't unresponsive and rude, they just didn't offer any solution. "Soooorrrrry!" I am back to my stock seat now, I did a little remodel to it and it works better than the Mustang. I guess there will be some good buys on mustang seats on ebay.

I ordered the Royal Touring Seat and found it to be uncomfortable and set me higher than I wanted. After a weekend on the seat and several hundred miles, I packed it up and returned it. Never again will I buy a seat that I cannot spend time on before purchasing.
Here's my 2 cents on the Mustang seat. I had one on my prior bike and it was "ok" much better than stock but just ok. Two things that I found that made it only ok, first it is not leather and doesn't breath and therefore air won't circulate and you sweat faster making you want to move around; second it has a sharp transistion from the seating area to where it rises in the back (alomst a 90 degree angle) and this is what caused me most of my issues. Several folks here already said it, not all seats work for all butts, for some that sharp transition is very comfortable for others lke me a major tailbone pain and that burning hurt. On my current bike I went with a Corbin which is leather, I still sweat but takes longer and higher temps and lower speed you can't argue with natural materials. The other big differance is that it's transition is scooped and not sharp at which applies no presure to my tailbone and my rounded but fits nicely in. I rode the mustang as much as 180 miles non stop at a time and it started getting uncomfortabel around 2 hours in but not unbareable. The Corbin I run run the tank dry and no problem I more so want to get off to stretch..............
