So not only do I have to keep my eyes open for text messaging teens and drivers who think driving is a video game, I now have to watch out for idiot motorcycle riders. I'm riding into work this morning a little late (with the bosses permission) because I had to work until midnight last night and I just about get ran down by an DB on what I assume was a Yamaha (his jacket had Yamaha stencilled on the back) business biker. I say business biker because I got a flash of slacks and loafers when he went by me. Now keep in mind I was in the HOV lane doing ~75 when he went by me in my lane at what had to be 20 mph faster than I was going. I usually like the HOV lane because it is a restricted lane so I don't have to watch for drivers abruptly deciding they want to be exactly where I am and turning into me. On top of that, this guy must have went around the car that was following at a safe distance behind me for the proceeding 2 miles, because I never saw him coming and I usually keep a close eye on what is going on behind me as well as in front. I wanted nothing more than to chase this DB down and ask him WTF he thought he was doing. But, not wanting to wreck my nice commute to work I decided to let it go. I must be getting old!! Thanks for letting me vent.
I don't care if these young kids ride fast or pop wheelies down the rode. But what kills me is that they do it without thinking about the impact of others. Had you not been a seasoned rider you might have drifted left or right and hit this moron. No thought process in the youth.
yeah gotta watch everyone... I was passing a harley rider in my own lane the other day when he figure it was a good idea to move into my lane...I guess he felt I would stop passing him just cause he put out his arm to signal the lane change...well I passed him alright and he had to swerve back into his lane or I would have kicked him back into it.

Give your post a bit. You will more than likely have a few DB's that frequent this forum come on here and try to rip on you for not minding your own business and letting them take their own risks and not worrying about yourself. Which I guess it is only natural and part of what makes such people DB's. If they could think past their nose they would realize that they risk everyone around them an not just themselves. They will try to justify their stupidity by trying to act like bad-@$$e$ and acting like they like living dangerously cus "no one lives forever" or other such crap.
I was in a cage yesterday, driving my daughter home (threatening rain) driving a the freeway around the cities. I was in the right lane when a on/off road bike of some kind passed me in the left lane. I was commenting to my daughter that it seemd odd that he had a full face helmet, leather jacket, gloves and shorts on when a car ahead of me starts to change lanes, right into the lane this MC was in. The car was actually in his lane with him before the DB realized a bike was there, then suddenly veered right. The bike accelerated some, changed right and got away from the crazy cager. I sped up a bit to see what kind of fool was driving the cage. It turned out to be a blue haired lady, 75 to 80 if she was a day, with 3 other blue hairs in the car with her. I wanted to yell something but thought better of it since the windows were all up in her car. But just be careful out there, there are people that don't pay attention even when they don't have a cell phone in their hand.
Thats why I dont do group rides, big toy runs, and the like. Some of these folks only ride a few times a year, and after 1 beer become Evel K., without his skill. Saw 1 knucklehead bring down 10 folks in a toy run a few years back, never have group ridden since. I think everyone on the planet should have to start driving using Honda Rebels, and after a year they could go to any vehicle of their choice. Wouldn't that do alot for awareness and safety attitude?
