Harley davidson takeover rumors resurface

Also, the FEDS have put Harley into first group of companies to be subject to the new "trading breaks" rule..... and I quote:
The exchanges will start putting the trading breaks into effect as early as Friday for six months. The New York Stock Exchange will begin Friday's trading session with five stocks: EOG Resources Inc., Genuine Parts Co., Harley Davidson Inc., Ryder System Inc. and Zimmer Holdings Inc. The exchange will gradually add other stocks early next week, expecting to reach by Wednesday the full number that will be covered.
The plan for the "circuit breakers" was worked out by the SEC and the major exchanges following the May 6 market plunge that saw the Dow Jones industrials lose nearly 1,000 points in less than a half-hour.
Under the new rules, trading of any Standard & Poor's 500 stock that rises or falls 10 percent or more in a five-minute period will be halted for five minutes. The "circuit breakers" would be applied if the price swing occurs between 9:45 a.m. and 3:35 p.m. Eastern time -- almost the entire trading day.
If Harley goes, what does that say about the direction this country is headed? Will we owners be the last of a dying breed? We stopped by a Yamaha/Honda dealer for a look see. Overall the bikes are nice looking ( except the handlebar controls look like crap) and the prices are hard to beat. Saw a 2010 Goldwing with many of the bells and whistles for $21,999? Cripe, My Low Rider was 18,300 without add on's!!! Would I trade mine in for a Goldwing.... nope. But somehow, Harley's going to have to compete with these prices and still produce a distinctive HARLEY product.
We know Warren dropped a bunch of bucks on Harley to keep them going........ now I wonder if he's setting it up for a take over so he can make a handsome dime now that the price has gone up. In March 3, 2009.....you could buy a share of HD stock for $8.33......today that same share closed at $27.31. Guess what Warren bought it at.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
I agree 100% with you. The square, oversized ugly zinc looking master cylinders are the worst things I've ever seen, sitting on those bars. You cant help but notice them. The whole set up looks cheap, considering the rest of the bike looks decent. That's probably why they get away with the cheaper initial price tag. Then the levers and switches look cheap too. Totally turned me off.
