My first post here and it's probably been covered before but each thread is unique, right? I'm a guy thats 5' 7 1/2" tall, 175 pounds and I owned a Softail Custom for ten years. I sold it two years ago and I'm wanting another Harley again. I'm looking at a 2010 Heritage Softail Classic and a 2010 Road King Classic. I've sat on both of them but haven't rode them yet. They seem so much bigger than my Softail Custom. Does anyone think that I'm too short for these bikes? I'd really appreciate the input because although I'm not scared of these bikes, I'm wondering if I'm too short or too small for these particular bikes. Also, if you think that I am too short, which Harley would you suggest?
Let me give you an answer....my old ridin buddy was 140lbs, 5'7" and rode a goldwing. Yes he was compensating but that's besides the point. Test ride what you want and make a decision. Then enjoy your new bike.
I'm 5'5" and 140. The Heritage should fit you fine with no mods. If I had a RK, I would probably need a lower seat and lowering mods (which the dealership would be MORE than happy to sell!).
If you can get both feet on the ground you're not too short.
+1 on that.
But,you might want to watch out around here for the post police. If the subject has been brought up more than once someone might want to give you some crap about it.
I'm 5'7" 185 lbs and can sit flat footed on a stock RK with short legs, as far as heritage softail classic, some models sit high depending on the seat, but i know some of the older ones had adjustable rear shock that could be used for height problems, not sure about new ones.
Thanks everyone for the vote of confidence! I'm test driving both tomorrow to see which one feels more comfortable including handlebar reach and footboard reach. Thanks again!
