Default 1997 883 value

Hey guys,

First post on here although I have browsed the forums for quite some time. I have a Camaro for sale that I am asking $4500 for. $3700 is my lowest price. I got an offer from someone who wants to trade his 1997 883 with forward controls, Jesse James wrapped pipes, and a cell headlight.

He wants a straight up trade but I am worried I am cutting myself short.

Kelly blue book had his bike under $3000

It has 28,000 miles and he says it has never been dropped, and is in mint condition.

Here are some pictures.

So any opinions on value?

I'd really appreciate it guys and gals!

Thanks for any help

That deal is entirely between you and him, if you feel that you are getting hosed, you have a couple of options
1) Walk away
2) Ask for some $$$
3) If you want the bike, sell the car and buy the bike out right.

There's not a sole here that can make the decision for you. BTW what is the KBB value on the car?

I am trying to get an estimate on the bikes value rather than have someone tell me whether it is a good deal. Based off what you see, do you have an opinion on what you would pay for it (I realize youd have to see it to know for sure) ?

The KBB on the car is about 4,000.

Thanks

the bike is worth about 3000 as far as a good deal your car could be worth 2000 if we are talking wholesale it all comes down to your area and how bad you want the bike a old camaro around here is about 1800

That bike probably isn't even worth $3000 but he might get that if what he has done to it fits someones image of the ideal bike. Personally i think it just looks screwed up. There's a million used later model sportsters out there that no one wants to buy. Every Harley dealer is overloaded with them. Consequently the pre-2000 sportsters are not worth much, especially an 883 with a screwed up rear fender and 28,000 miles.

I gave 2200 a year and a half ago for this 883 with 21k on it.If your car is in good running condition I'd say you need to get at least a grand plus the bike.

I've always had a problem believing kelly or any of those books. Go on craigslist in your area and see how many are on there for sale around that year and mileage. Check ebay for selling and sold 883's and that will give you an idea what people are asking for them and what they are actually getting.

Basically CL, ebay, deals on wheels magazines, whatever you can find that sells bikes. Use that as a baseline. The rest is up to you. \

Here are a couple examples. If it were me, I'd pass on the straight trade. But I don't want a hugger. If I did I'd sell the camaro and keep my eyes open for a newer sporty with less miles.

Good luck

That is one ugly rear fender.
Here is the real worth of both.

Sportster... Worth as much as you are willing to pay for it.
Camero..... Worth as much as someone is willing to pay you for it.

We can not tell you the worth of either.
