That's a good way to get a dull spot in your clearcoat.

I've removed thousands of emblems and reflectors from bikes, trucks, and cars using fishing line or dental floss and have never had a single problem. Dental floss or monofilament line will not harm any paint that has a clear coat and is less than 10 years old

Use dental flose to "cut" the reflectors off. Then, just peel off what you can by hand...this is what I did. Afterwards, I went around all four corners of the bike with a soft scrub sponge (blue Scotch-brite pad) with some water, and that seemed to remove a LOT of gunk that I didn't realize was still hanging around. After removing the excess, I went back to using Goo-Gone, and after a couple of go-rounds, it was completely gone. Then, just give the bike a mini-bath to clean up any Goo-Gone leftover and it is good as new!

By the way, enjoying more pictures of the bike! Keep it up!

Ride the wheels off of it! That's what it's there for. My 2000RG has 153,000+ and It's still my daily rider.

I live in Raleigh NC.... unless a hurricane, or ice, the RG is MY daily ride.... bought used with 10k on 12/27/07 has 60k on 6/24/10...... not as many as some, more than others....
if you're worried about "resale values".... buying a new bike is the biggest HIT you can take......
otherwise.... ride the dang thing.... or not.... whatever floats YOUR boat

I like the black motor and laced wheels on the FXDC.

Nice bike, enjoy.

14,000 miles since Thanksgiving. Ride it 'till you can't ride it any more.
