Why would you even sign at that high a rate? I think that there is reason enough to know your credit is sketch and not by mistake.

Anyway, yes, go to a credit union. Your credit still dictates, as does your debt:income. Credit unions are generally cheaper. Only time I have NOT financed something through my CU was when Ford gave me 0%

True Story: In April of 2008 I bought a new Road King Classic. After 3 days of pi$$ing with the sales dept and sales manager I got a call from the GM to come down and see him personally to work out a deal. I was satisfied with the bike and deal...then on to the finance guy. I sat down and he had the paperwork drawn for 13%. I have immaculate credit and wasn't going to stand for that. I told him I want the bike, but not that bad. As I stood up he stopped me and I realized we were now negotiating the interest rate rather than him giving me the lowest I qualify for. I settled at just under 8%. What BS! I saved 5% by just standing my ground! Also they jerked my around and didn't pay off my trade until 4 months later! I was freaking out trying to get it taken care of without damaging my credit. Long story short, I'll never finance AGAIN! I paid this bike off in 18 months and WILL NOT go down the debt road again.

If you're in the military and you arrange financing or refinancing be sure you will be able to take the bike out of state if you get transferred. Your best be may be the base credit union.

To some a bike is their only means of transportation and is not a weekend toy. What's the difference in financing a bike or car when both are a means of transportation? Both depreciate

Cars are necessities of life these days, motorcycles aren't.
If you bought a bike as your sole means of transportation all I can say is...
you should have bought a car instead.
