Bought the wife Wiley x rx transitional, she doesn't wear them cause they don't get dark enough, I bought a pair of 7 eye trans and they don't get darkenough, I wear them at night. Found this Vendor at Street Vibrations that sell Road Warrior HD sunglasses, cost $30.00, I love these things makes everything clear and no foam but seal my face good, this year I bought wife a pair that goes over her regular rx glasses and she loves them, By the way the 7 eye you can buy replacement foam pads.
I've got these same glasses. I really like them. 2 pairs (1 clear, 1 dark) for $25 shipped. Can't go wrong with these.
Google "Global Vision Eyewear"
my one complaint with the Chicago was always the low height from lens-frame bottom to lens-frame top, but it turns out they have plenty of styles and more than a few of them provide better coverage.
I have used the wiley X but prefer oakley. The key is to ensure whatever you buy is ANSI impact rated. Both oakley and wiley X meet ANSI standards and have impressive success stories from soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan who's eyes were protected during blasts.
Bottom line - we wear goggles and sunglasses to protect our eyesight. If the product you are considering buying isn't ANSI impact rated don't buy it.
Wileys, Oakleys and Ray Bans here. To the OP. avoid tunnels or slide 'em down a bit for the few moments you're in a tunnel. Or wear a helmet that has a jet pilot type flip up sun shield.
I have a pair of 7-Eye brand with transitional lenses. The rubber insert is removable (you don't look like you're wearing goggles when not on the bike) and replacements are available for when they rot. I leave for work when it's dark and ride home in the daylight, the lenses work great.
I got some HD photo-chromatic ones with the foam to seal around the eyes. They work great, wish they got darker on bright days. I can't deal with cheap sunglasses, poor lenses bother my eyes...maybe it's my 38yo 20/15 vision that I still have.
