I will answer your question about the trip, maybe! Three things can happen and two of them are bad. Successful completion of your trip is one of the options, the other two are flat tire and stuck along the side of the road or tire failure resulting in a catastrophic event that will most certainly be unpleasant. What is the financial incentive to get 99% of the value of a tire?

I have to change the front on mine too.....not cause of wear but it started cupping a couple days ago...the damnedest thing.

Change it before the trip. Rear tire goes down = BAD. Front tire goes down = bad x 2 especially if doing highway driving next to semi's and other large vehicles that really hurt when being struck by them. Then add rain and you have another whole new equation.

I replace mine at 1/8,,, so IMO its past time... even with that I got 22k out of it.

Default tires, yeah!

Got it. 30k miles and the third set of tires after just two years, finally a reason to stop riding! Safety! Park bike; work and save $500 plus dollars; replace both tires; continue riding. Thanks to all for the unanimous advice!

Find an indy and do both for about half the cost of going to a harley dealer.
