Just wondering on the newer bikes who waits until there check engine light goes off before starting the engine, we were at a test your metal event at the local dealer and they did not want you starting their bikes until the check engine light had gone off??
I have a 07 soft tail custom and mine seems to start better (when hot) before the check engine light goes out???
Does it have to do with the injectors priming up ??
might want to check all the other threads on this same subject...

Now, to "crash 101", the instructions for starting a Harley has always read whether it's a carb or FI system to wait until the engine light goes out... I never have waited and have 70,000 care free miles on my 03 Fatty.
I usually wait, the ECM is doing diagnostic checks when you first turn on the bike.
I haven't noticed any issues with starting either way. Bike fires right up when I bump the start button, every time.
If I start my bike before the check engine light goes off the bike will run a little different. My idle will run 200 to 1000 RPM's fast for a longer time. Before it will run right.
