First. The 07 will have the 6th gear - cruise drive... and that's damned nice.
Second. You may have cruise control on the RG. There's a whole lot of empty out there you have to ride through.. (think Nevada) and the cruise control really is sweet when you're rolling through it.
Third. A fairing is a nice thing to have when you are roaring through a thunderstorm or a swarm of bugs..
All that said though.. either bike is fine. Since you already HAVE the softail, I'd stay with that.
there is no way in hell that a softail custom can cruise like a road glide....if your serious about touring you need to mod your road glide to fit you..
WTF??? you could tour on a Honda 250 Rebel.....it ain't the bike... buy what YOU want, because it pleases you.... not because of a result from a poll on this.... or any forum.
