I try to check online for my parts before I get them or have them ordered. I got a printout from the dealer with the exhaust, intake, and supertuner and googled it before I commited to buy them. I would expect a tech to know how to put parts on my bike but not know if everything fits for my bike. If I had an excuse to ride I'd take it.
One of the many problems in todays world, wanting something for nothing. You didn't read the package to see what the part fit. Maybe the dealer should charge you an extra 10% for buying the wrong part. Just sayin'.
You deserve nothing but your parts. They messed up when giving you parts that don't fit------you messed up not checking and then taking them home. You should give them 10% more for not checking if they should give you 10% off for not getting it right for your bike. I like my dogs more everyday.
so i drove any hour the other day to get some parts from local harley shop i wanted to get aftermarket flush mount gas caps for my rocker and i told them that they gave me soft tail ones which it said right on the box i found out when i got home fits all soft tail models except rocker and rocker c they i called them back and they ordered the right ones but should i try to get a discount or something
so you drive instead of riding? then didn't check the package to double-check the fit.... and you want to dealer to give you a discount.
HELL YEA!! they should just give them to you for free........
It can work several ways, If U visit the dealer often and the parts people know U well enough they should know what bike U ride and if U happen to get a wrong part, they'll catch it. I've had that happen.
Sometimes I'll also ask them for help getting and finding some items, still I also have gotten a wrong piece.
Its a two hr ride there and back but I just consider it a nice little ride to go there.
We have 5 dealers within 75miles, closest one is 20 away but its not the one I use most of the time. They changed owners last yr and they quite giving all discounts so if I spend much I'll just go to one of the others.
As far as them giving U a better price for a mistake,,, well,, I doubt thats gonna happen. Now If U talked to them, told them what bike U had, then they ordered it and messed up the order, U just might ask and get something off ????
I learned to really check all parts I buy to make sure they will fit as U'll do from now on.

Why should you expect something for nothing? Know your bike and what you want BEFORE you go to the Dealer, or anywhere else for that matter. This is the problem with today's world, everyone wants something for nothing! JEEZ!
Look at it this way, if you had ordered it online you would have to pay a restocking fee to return it, 10% - 20%. So, you are already getting a discount by not having to pay that penalty.
