So I have the Flush-Mount Fuel Cap and Gauge Kit from HD on my bike (it was on when I got it) and it doesn't work right.
When the tank is full, all 6 lights are on and the gas light comes on the center console.
When it's empty, the lights go off. (maybe that's how it should be?)
but the tank light still comes on when it's full...
I had a shop look at it and they said the wires all matched up correctly (by color) and that they weren't sure why it was working the way it was (and said "these things are touchy")
So what's the deal? It's pretty annoying to have a full tank of gas and all 6 indicator lights on the gauge glaring in your face...

That doesn't sound right and doesn't happen on mine.

I could only wish I had that problem. I only have 3 of the 7 that light up - 2 full & 1 empty. With the tank lift, the 2 full indicators don't stay lit but a few miles.
The low fuel light is most likely from a bad connection in the plug under the tank. It has to be removed and then reconnected when the gauge is installed.
Uhhhh, go without ????????
It's wurked for me for over 45 years. I just look inside that big azzt hole on the top of the tank that the gas goes in. (I'd go by the mileage, BUT I AINT gots one o' those speedo thangys, either )
i have the skull led fuel gauge and when the dealership installed it the low fuel light started working backwards for me too. it comes on for about 10 miles after i fill to the top, and stays off. the dealership said something about the led voltage changing something. i don't know. you don't need it anymore anyway, you have the new lights on the gauge.
I also just recently developed a problem with the lights on my gauge. When I fill up the tank, all the lights are on as they are supposed to be, but when the tank is empty, all the lights stay on. My low fuel warning light on my console will still come on when the fuel is low. I plan to remove my console and inspect the wiring on my flush mount gauge tonight. I will take the advice mentioned above and disconnect the wiring harness and then reconnect. The gauge worked fine with no problems for about 2 years, but now is acting up.
I have two lights on my flush mounted gauge that don't work and sometimes the fuel light is on and sometimes its off. I guess I should pull it back out and check the wires
