Your modded/high performance/built motor ? Not talking about bolt on stuff here but big bore , fully built motors ! Basically tryin to get a feel of reliability. So please share your mods and/or build up details and be as specific as possible
I have a 103 conversion with a better clutch. Not a SE conversion, it has tuned and polished heads, pushrods, valves etc., along with the air cleaner and pipes. Well over 8000 miles so far after a year. No problems.
The people that did it have been in business for over 25 years, and have a lot of practical experience in drag racing. I asked about a bigger conversion, but was discouraged due to reliability issues. My 103 puts out a bit more hp and torque than the stock HD 110 motor, I think. Dyno numbers at the rear wheel are hp=104 torque=107.
I think that if one wants more power than this, it would put too much strain on the stock transmission, drive train etc.
Since I own a Softail model, I'm not really powering too much around curves due to handling limitations. But I have plenty of passing power when needed.
I note that you are in CA. PM me if you want to know who did my conversion.
About 20,000 miles so far. Previous owner had stage 3 done at about 25,000 miles, I bought it at 36,000 and now has 45,000. Not a bit of trouble yet. 100 HP 100 FT LBS of torque. I love it.
