So after a long ride and some errands, on the way home doing about 35, I lean down to the left and hear ticktickticktick. I was in 2nd gear..
Once home, I parked the bike in the garage and closed the garage door.
Ten minutes later I went to the garage to get something and I whiff the weak odor of gas. I sniffed all around my bike ( i know what yer thinkin, so stop! LOL) and I could not locate a "source" of gas. Odd or....normal?
By any chance do you store gas in your garage? I have some in closed containers and every time I go in there I can smell it slightly. Then there's the tractor, chain saw, mower and so on.
Source of gas smell? On my 2009 dyna its been a leaky gas cap. Sometimes it leaks sometimes it doesn't. Doesn't matter how much I under fill or if I click the cap tight or snug it up just before it clicks. It will leak. I'm hitting the dealer up for a new cap Saturday. And, I've stopped smoking while riding. Don't ask!
If you shine a light around all the fuel hoses and carb/fuel injection and see no wet spots, I would look elsewhere. Has this just come up or been bothering for a while?
its been for a couple of months..sometimes noticeable like today sometimes barely.
When the engine has cooled, i have run my fingers and a white rag where I could and found nothing...
I just thought...could the efi not be shutting off completely when i turn of the engine?
