Default Removing Tar

Hey guys,

What's the best/safest way to remove tar from chrome exhaust pipes? I have a few tiny spots I need to get off before I shine them up.

goof off and a soft towel. DON'T use those green, plastic scrubbers that you think would be safe......they'll whack the chrome shine into tomorrow!!!

WD-40 did not work at all on cool pipes. Going to go get some goof off.

Just about any petroleum product should work. Gas, Kerosene. Turtle wax bug and tag remover. Mr Clean magic eraser for the stuborn spots.

I've used Baby Oil many times and it has always worked, even on paint.

Great for getting tar off your feet at the beach too.

if all else fails, a little 00 steel wool lightly brushed will get it without scratching

I had some burnt on rain gear plastic that the bug/tar remover wouldn't get off . .a little bit of turtle wax chrome polish took it right off. (very easily too)

Definately DO NOT use scotch bright pads . .did that on a honda once and it scuffed the bejesus out of the chrome.

I use a good chrome cleaner, mothers or that German toothpaste, and a micro cloth. Almost forgot, the elbow grease.

I use HD's chrome polish & it does a good job removing all the tar & bug spots...rub on & wipe off w/micro-towel.
