The part you inquire about is a remote starter button that is mounted on the solenoid housing. www.jpcycles.com p/n 3800353. Your problem sounds like a security system issue. No diagnostics from your dealer?

This is NOT necessarily yours, but it is what you are referring to.

It replaces your electrical solenoid, with a manual push button. Mounts to your starter. BUT you have to use this, vs your button.

Also, know, that if ANY BODY walks up to your scott, and pushes the plunger, it will engage the starter, regardless of the positon or location (your pocket, the closet, etc) of the key. NOW, granted, the scoot will NOT start, but the starter WILL ENGAGE.

My "GUESS" is, it is your solenoid. ONLY MY GUESS!!! But, IMFUO, it is easier to replace the whole dammt starter. I can get EVO starters in the $120 category, sometimes less, all day long. Not sure 'bout Twinkies, I send them to "the OTHER guy".

Re-torque the screws on your starter bracket. The ground wire that's connected to one of the screws on the brackets isn't making good contact.

I had the very same issue on my Fatboy this March, pulled into a gas station in Homestead Florida, filled up clicked the starter button nothing, fear set in as 300 miles from home, tried again fired up, phew! Continued on across everglades on US-41, stopped just before Iron Rhino's and bike wouldn't start again, left it a while and still no luck, then got it towed to a local shop, they called me the next saying my starter needed replacing as I was still over 200 miles from home agreed and got hit for a $700 bill, starter was $250 the rest was labour, was I pissed but what could I do.

Next day set off home and didn't have any probs, tried to forget that bill! Got home then next day went to use the bike, guess what......nothing, now I was really pissed. Called my local shop and they came and picked the bike up, guess what it was, starter solinoid, cost $16, admitledy labour was a few hours. I called other shop and vented my anger, they did come through and pick up the bill for solinoid and labour ($150) but I still think I was ripped off. My local shop did ask if I got my old starter back and they would check it, but guess what, the other shop 'forgot' to give it to me!

So it might not be a new starter you need just your starter solinoid playing up,. check that out first and save yourself a bunch of money

Could be this, I think the ground strap is already gone for your year but if you can tighten them then do it.

I am talking about the two allen head bolts that hold the starter to the inner primary.

There was a procedure the dealers were doing where you remove starter and check if its arching to primary. I dont know if thats a free check or not

I was having problems with my starter. I would randomly get either a start or a click and no start. I checked all of my connections and they were clean and tight. I finally wired in a separate relay to provide juice directly from the battery to engage the starter and I haven't had a problem since.

I'd say get the starter end cap like gump pictured and 95custumz gave a part # for.

It is a manual starter activation and will force the solenoid to work.
Don't fret about it affecting any other system though. The bike will not start if the key isn't turned on and the alarm system deactivated.

It's also super easy to install, just three small screws on the end of the soleniod - take the old end cap off and put the new end cap on BAM! you're done.

Then, if the button on your handlebar doesn't engage just reach under your right leg and push the button; as long as you have spark and fuel it WILL start every time.
